Jay and Kelley's Ukrainian Trip

After three years and 14 days of waiting for our adoption, God has answered our prayers and we are now on our way to Ukraine. We have made this blog to help our family keep up with us as we go to find our new child. "If you abide in Me, and My words abide in you, ask whatever you wish, and it shall be done for you." John 15:7

Day 17

Groundhog Day 17……did you just ever have one of those days where there is just nothing to tell? Well, read Friday’s, Thursday’s, Wednesday’s, etc. Blog and you will know what we did today. Yep, just same old, same old. The good news is that we go to court tomorrow at 11am. Svitlana will arrive by train tomorrow morning at 5am. Later in the morning we will sit down and she will tell us what we need to say in court and how things will proceed. After tomorrow we should have a pretty good time line for the next few weeks. Stephanie, we just got disconnected. I think that after 33 minutes our phone disconnects automatically. Now a word from my sponsor…..Hi folks. Just when I think that we’re in some “normal” country that has put the past of the Soviet Union behind them, we see what it may have been like 20 years ago. We haven’t had any hot water since mid-morning, but are really hoping that it will be available tomorrow morning for showers. I can shave with cold water (re: six months in Iraq), but it is kind of a pain when you are paying for your apartment. At least in Iraq my room and board were “free”. Oh, and for those of you that have a line on our gin rummy tournament… Kelley is up two games – 11 to 9. I’m taking the tortoise approach and will beat her in the long haul. That is my plan right now.Kelley failed to mention that KGB couple was “conveniently” walking down the street for their visit, just as we were pulling up with Rashid. Funny how their timing worked out. Of course, they were in the dimly lit hallway with us for awhile, before Chas and their daughter were brought out. Hmmm… then a little change of tactics (because I think they know about our blog and are on to us). There was a new lady and her grandmother in the Music Room this evening. Maxwell Smart (for those who don’t know who I’m referring too, just go to Google now) would have been proud, because I wasn’t fooled by their disguise. In fact, all the while I am confident that I saw the grandmother talking into her broach. We plan on posting a few new pictures tomorrow, if we get by the internet cafй. If so, we’ll put a quick post on the blog to let you know. That’s about it. It is a little after 10:00pm here, so we’ll try to connect and post this and then head off to bed. We hope that everyone is doing well back in the good ‘ole U.S. of A. We are definitely ready to get back to some Fox News, ESPN and real coffee. God bless y’all and good night.
